A
Message From Our Pastor...
God tells us very
plainly in Jeremiah 29:13, "You will seek Me and find Me when
you search for Me with all your heart". God is not hiding
from anyone. In fact, He wants to be found by us. At
Salmo Baptist Church, we have discovered that God is true to His
Word. As we have learned to seek God with all of our heart, we have
indeed found Him to be alive and well!
Some would say, "Well looking for God
with all my heart sounds like a lot of work and I am just not
sure it will be worth it". My friend,
you will never do anything more worthwhile in all of your life!
People seek after many things in life
hoping to discover that one thing, that "secret formula" to a
joyful and happy life. Money, prestige,
position, popularity are some of the things we are told will
bring us true happiness. Many people
seek after these things "with all their hearts" only to discover
that there is never enough money, there
is never enough prestige, there is never enough popularity to
completely satisfy that desire for a
happy and contented life.
Jesus said, "...I have come that
they may have life and have it in abundance."
I have had many experiences in my life
and some would consider those experiences to be pretty
exciting. I have had the money, I have
had the position and even the popularity, but I can honestly
tell you that my life has never been as
action packed and exciting as it is when I am seeking God.
And that is not just "preacher talk"! I
am truly experiencing the "abundant life" Jesus said He came
to give.
At SBC, we intentionally challenge our
people to take their commitment to Christ seriously because
we have discovered that a mediocre,
half-hearted walk with Jesus only results in frustration and
disappointment. It breaks my heart to
see so many people missing what God has promised because
they simply won't make an effort to know
God personally. So without apology we consistently
challenge the SBC family to do just
that...seek God with all their heart. I have never known a person
yet who walks away disappointed having
done that.
We are not striving to be a church for
everyone. It is not our goal to make everyone happy. That would
be an impossible goal for us to reach.
Our goal is to point you to the one who can truly bring deep joy and fulfillment to your life.
I personally want to invite you to come
spend a little time with our family and let us love you and
introduce you to the most exciting life
possible. God speaks to us EVERY time we gather together.
If you would like to hear a word from
Him yourself, come join us, as together, we seek him with all of our
heart!
